James 1:5
"If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God (Who gives) to everyone liberally and grudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him."
A good relationship takes a bit of work. Things are not one-sided where everything should be laid at your feet whenever your heart desires. We have a tendency to ask ask ask and forget that God needs a bit more time besides when we have our hands held out open.
Here are five ways you can strengthen that relationship with God to ensure he is always felt within your heart. They will make a difference in your life - you'll be utterly amazed.
Ask
Ask and you will be amazed at what a huge difference it makes to directly invite God into your life to help solve your problems. It's astonishing how so few people actually try this - even Christians! In our minds, t's always better to take the wheel first before we pray for help. You need to take the time to quiet your mind and open it to God as you ask for His wisdom in all situations.
Attend Church
Some people manage to maintain very special relationship with the Lord for years without any support. They are few and far between. Most of us find that the weekly boost of prayer, Bible study, community, and sacred space we get at church gives us a far stronger bond. We are not islands. We make time for everything else in our lives. Put God First. If you don't have a church, find one and get in tuned with your spiritual family.
Attend a Support Group
Support groups exist for a variety of problems, from alcohol to drug addiction to overeating. We all work best when we can share our struggles with other human beings. Find a group who offers support for that gray area in your life. You will be more blessed and enriched in doing so.
Begin Each Day With an Affirmation
First thing tomorrow morning, and everyday thereafter, - before you even plant those feet on floor from your bed - take a moment to renew your spirit with God. Refresh your spirit with his strength. This will give you the mental and emotional peace that is the foundation of success. And- it's simple - Thank God for being there with you at that very moment. Then mention five beautiful blessings in your life you are thankful for.
Pray in Moments of Doubt
No matter who you are, you will find moments when your determination weakens. When you get that feeling, don't quit. Don't blindly barrel forward with your gut instinct either. Step back, take a moment, and call on God to come to you and carry you through. Do this with every problematic area that takes hold of your life immediately.
This Week's Meditation:
The light has come.
Pray:
The light has come
I have forgiven the world and everything in it.
Meditate on this for several minutes a day. Allow various thoughts to come into your mind. And realize God has you in his arms always
