2 Corinthians 9:8
"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency
in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work."
Are you guilty of being a repeat offender? Einstein once said, "Repeating the same behavior and expecting different results is insanity." Do you complain often desiring a life change? Do you detest following a different route? Are you sitting there complacent waiting for a good tiding to be dropped in your lap?
How many of us are guilty of the same? We sit by; voicing our contempt, yet fail to set sail on new horizons. After all, these new waters could be muddy for a bit, and cause us added stress. And, as you well know, we don't need any more stress since our present situation already has us in a tizzy.
Yet, when you think about it, this type of behavior is outrageous! We pray, complain, become bitter in nature, and expect God to change what is happening to us. But, we won't lift a finger to change ourselves. We just want this change to be automatic, an easy fit, not upsetting the already uncomfortable scheme of things. Sadly, repeating the same behavior is insanity if we expect change. After all, we know deep down inside that to induce change, we must change first.
I hate change pure and simple. I can't stand any new modifications to my life. Recently, I was diagnosed with an illness that forcefully made my body shut down. Oh, it had been in my system for over a year now, yet I refused to see the consequences of how my own behavior has putting my health in jeopardy. I prayed, researched, and implemented slight changes in hopes my body would reboot itself to prior health. I really didn't want to change my own behavior too much, after all I'd been living that way for long time and it seemed to be working well. Yet, it wasn't until I TOTALLY changed my course in life was when I found relief. This took months of constant self-nagging to learn to relax. Relaxing was something that was not where my sails were set. I prided myself on how much I could accomplish rather than how well. And, my health was in jeopardy for it.
Once I got down to business and allowed God to set sail for pristine waters, my life took a drastic change. After all, God supplies grace all around us Corinthians states; but, we first must be open to change. At this point forward pray for God to change YOU, not to change what is happening to you.
Daily Guidance
1. Make your first morning prayers for your own personal change. Ask God to change YOU. Then you will adapt.
2. Look at detail at your life this week. What people or situations are making you uncomfortable? Is there a change needed in your life? Are you unwilling to accept it?
3. Don't dwell on trying to find your own course. Remember, God will lay that groundwork. All you have to do is ask.
