Hebrews 11:1
"What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see."
Are you walking around with blinders on? Sometimes we don't even know it until someone draws attention to our limited vision. I work with a bright young girl named Lisa. Lisa always comes to meetings well-versed in new ideas for the facility. She enjoys her co-workers, values her students, and always offers new insight into any pending problems.
Lisa's Facebook page tells a different story. It is plagued with innuendos relating to life's awful nuances. She speaks often of the negative impact on her life. And if you take the time to thoroughly read the post you will notice short after thoughts of "Why does this always happen to me?" "Just another day in paradise." "Of course, I didn't expect it to turn out right." Lisa strolls through the day with blinders on. Blinders that attract more negative energy each time she views with tunnel vision.
If you view life with blinders on, begin today to believe that what you have hoped for is going to happen, that good things are on their way. Remember, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1) Keep in mind faith is working with the unseen world. You may not be able to perceive anything positive in your life at the moment, everything may be crumbling around you; but if you take those blinders off, you will see your joy as being restored.
This level of mentality is because the world has programmed us to believe "You need to see it to believe it". But God's word says the exact opposite. He says, "As you believe it, you will see it." Once you see it by faith, it will come to live in your existence. Don't limit God with your small thinking. Have big visions for your life. Live with faith and expectancy. You will become what you believe.
Maybe the reason you have not yet seen it is because you can't conceive it. Maybe your negative thoughts are getting in the way. Maybe you've lost control and they come so often you can't stop them any longer. The Bible says, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God." (Luke 18:27) Should this be the case, quiet your mind, and let the negative thoughts roll. Do this all week twice a day.
For each thought say:
This thought about _______ means nothing. It is like the (name any object) I see in this room. God fills me with grace.
