4:6 Galatians
"And because you are his sons, God as sent the Holy Spirit of his son into your hearts crying, Abba! Father! Father!”
Do you feel free today? Or are you inundated with sensationalism giving you the feeling of being boxed in with no opening?
I once read that we believers are like ships in the night. God wants to turn us out to sea and sail wherever the wind and waves carry us. That sea represents the freedom we have in God, and the wind is a symbol of the Holy Spirit as our guide. But as believers, we are tied to the dock because that is the only place we believe we will be safe from shipwreck until we learn to follow him. When we learn to listen to those inner promptings of the Holy Spirit, we can untie ourselves from that dock and sail the sea of life without fear of becoming lost.
God's direction doesn't contradict the laws he handed out. When we are new believers we learn to follow his laws in the Bible. And as we mature, we develop the ability to be led by the Spirit of the living God. When the Spirit of God is in you, the law of God is written into your heart. You no longer need to memorize his laws because you can follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit. He will lead you in the right direction always.
Some people feel safer following the law then being led by the Holy Spirit. They think they are okay as long as they follow a set plan that everyone else if following. But following the Holy Spirit may lead you to do something different. You will need faith to leave the crowd because God doesn't lead everybody to serve him exactly in the same way.
We cannot follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit by simply obeying laws, rules, and regulation. God's law is our tutor, but the Holy Spirit is our guide and mentor.
This Week's Meditation:
Teach me to "open my heart to the Holy Spirit."
Pray:
Help me to meditate: Send the Holy Spirit to me. Lead me, Lord to him.
Teach me to be patient and know you will mentor me.
Remind me that I need your help first.
Meditate on this for several minutes a day. Allow various thoughts to come into your mind. And realize God has you in his arms always.
