John 1:16
"From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another."
Most days I am inundated and often obstructed with the major occurrences in my life. I always feel compelled on that endless highway of self fame and family obligations. Days can become endless, and I am forced to wonder where these blessing are when I am so fervently trying to build a dream here! After all, John says that I am to receive one blessing after another. Furthermore, other Bible passages state that I'm entiled to a multitude of blessings! Yet, with my blinders on, I can only see the larger picture and fail to acknowledge the smaller graces of life.
This week I realized that my life is abundant in smaller blessings. I often fail to look at these little gems bestowed on me each day. Maybe they are not bombshells that hurl themselves towards my heart, but nonetheless, I can see many of them throughout the day. Today I took a walk this morning by the river when I was uptight and at unrest. I noticed the sun gracing the horizon and the water smooth as glass. I stopped for a moment watching the sheer glimmer of tiny ripples as they cascaded towards the shore. This but a huge smile in my heart and made me realize God is always there. At that point I realized, why do I put so much emphasis on the larger portrait when I am blessed each day with a multitude of wallet sizes?
1. Whether it's rain or sun that fills your soul, when you are immersed in it, take time to bask. Say a prayer of thanks for the rays or droplets that find you peace.
2. Look around and be thankful for all of those you love. Are they happy, healthy? Thank God for these small wonders that find us peace.
3. Has someone reached out to you? Maybe you were in "that" place and felt refuge and reprieve by another's touch or guidance. God reaches out to us through others.
4. Take notice of the things throughout the day that make you happy. Relish in them, the more positive energy you build, the more wonderful things will come your way
