Psalm 19:1
"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."
What a beautiful way to depict the glory of God! The psalmist captures the image of the presence of God revealed in his creation. As I look out over the ocean a brief walk from my home, I feel forever blessed. I can feel God's presence as I bike the sidewalk that runs parallel to the beach. It is God's wish that he speaks to us through nature. This simple reality can play a significant role in your own life.
Make it a plan to read a bit from the Bible each morning. Then go for a hike in the hills or stroll down a beach and spend time in your favorite domain. Each one of us is blessed with some form of nature adjacent to his surrounding so find where yours is located. Here you will find the vastness of God and feel his love in the depths of the sea or as wide as the mountains. In this spot you can pray quietly and let God know how much you love him. Let him expand your heart during this time with immense love.
This summer I was at the summit on Grandfather Mountain. Way up there on the Mile High Swinging Bridge, I was privy to see the vast exchange of all the local mountain tops. Here I gave thanks to God for a healthy family and the chance to be near heaven's door. As I stood soaking up nature's cathedral, I could feel the very real presence of God. I could touch his vastness and great love for my well-being.
I am blessed to have access to such spectacular places where I can experience God's presence in nature. I pray you find an area near that enables you to feel the same. If it is not local, I challenge you to find your "cathedral" and seek God. Be still. He will be there with you.
Heavenly Father, thank you for the glories of nature.
Here is where you speak to my heart best.
It is through nature that I can feel your presence always.
Amen.
