Psalm 32:3
"When I kept silence [before I confessed], my bones wasted away through my groaning all the day long."
How is your day beginning? Is it a bit off? We all have days when we fell more emotional than usual, and there may be several reasons why. It could be you didn't sleep well the night before, or maybe you ate something that didn't agree with you or lowered your blood sugar or maybe you are sensitive to its ingredients. But the occasional emotional day is something you shouldn't be too concerned about. I have a saying, "It only lasts a day".
Recently, my son was away with his friends for five days. On the fifth day I woke up feeling stressed and depressed. I just couldn't understand why. Nothing prompted my emotions to react in such a way. It was a peaceful sleep, and I ingested nothing the night before that would have enhanced my sensitives. So I prayed asking God to take this burden away from me as I had work to do. At that moment, I felt a void lifted. Something in my heart had been heavy. Then a myriad of images fluttered through my mind. They included all of things we shared such as nightly walks, help with dinner, help with chores, good conversation, and the warm feeling of a special friendship. I had been missing all of this these last few days. My heart was tugging for a hug.
Sometimes there may be times we have emotional issues that need to be resolved and dealt with. We are usually guilty of stuffing things down inside rather than dealing with them up front. If you are one of those people who hate confrontations, your soul may be full of unresolved issues that need closure. Sometimes we are not privy to these emotions. They may have been swept under the rug so quickly that we didn't even notice the action to begin with.
So, if you feel unusually sad or are carrying a heavy burden, ask God what is wrong before you assume anything. It is amazing how quickly we can learn by simply asking God for an answer and willing to face the truth. But you have to shut up for the moment and listen. We are so used to babbling, filling the space of silence. Remember, God speaks to your heart. You must stop, listen, and wait. Trust in him.
This Week's Meditation:
There is no will but God's
I am at peace.
Nothing can disturb me, My will is God's.
My will and God's are one.
God will peace for his Son.
Meditate on this for several minutes a day. Allow various thoughts to come into your mind. And realize God has you in his arms always
