Psalm 34:8
"O taste and see that the Lord is good; how blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!"
Sometimes when it comes to God our expectations are less. Yes, we feel blessed with what he gives us. Yes, we are satisfied with his grace. We've been trained this way in the wake of our spirituality. That's due to the Bible's conflicting ideology on greed. We are "programmed" to expect what is placed at our feet. But, often God wants to give us more! Sadly, we go around with blinders on taking in the crumbs that are placed in our path instead of finding that whole loaf of bread!
There once was a man who traveled across the Atlantic Ocean on a cruise ship. He never ate in the dining room with the other passengers. Instead, he would go off in a corner and eat cheese and crackers that he brought with him on the trip. Near the end of the trip, another passenger asked him, "Why don't you come into the banquet hall and eat with us?"
The traveler's face flushed with embarrassment, "Well, to tell you the truth, I had only enough money to buy the ticket. I don't have any extra money to purchase fancy meals."
The other passenger raised his eyebrows in surprise. He shook his head and said, "Sir, don't you realize the meals are included in the price of the ticket? Your meals have already been paid for!"
Many of us are similar to that naive traveler. We are missing out on God's banquet because we don't realize that the good things in life have already been paid for. We may be on our way to heaven, but we don't realize what has been included in the price of our ticket. Instead, we are surviving on cheese and crackers while God makes much more available to us.
It's time to step up to God's dining table and dig in to the fabulous fare he has prepared for us. God has everything on the table including: joy, forgiveness, restoration, peace, healing, and financial success. It all waiting for you to pull up a chair and take your place. Remember King David's challenge, "Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who trust in him!"
Meditate on this daily:
God did not create a meaningless world for me. He created ______________ for me and therefore it is real.
