Psalm 119:165
"Great peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble."
How many countless hours of your days are spent worried and concerned over something that is steadfast and has no recourse to change? Hours of useless deliberations wondering if you did the right thing? Should I have changed my mind earlier? Could I have taken another path? How can I change how I'm feeling? How can I find the means for the support I need? How do I get an individual to respond and notice how I'm feeling? At times it can be saddening due to the fact God blesses us with these wonderful beings in our lives to protect and love. And in return, we want them to love and protect us. We feel this protective instinct to ward off any evil vibes that may try to pierce their daily existence. And hope they do the same for us on days we need them. Yet, there are days that nothing we do can put a dent in the situation. These days we know, in the deep crevices of our soul, there is not a thing we can do to change the situation, yet we still try like stoic angels trying to mend the hands of time.
The Serenity Prayer
God grant me
the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the
things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a
time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the
pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I
would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender
to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely
happy with Him
Forever in the
next.
Amen.

I was recently reacquainted with this thoughtful prayer. Not that I've forgotten about it, as most days it just sits there as a seed in my memory waiting for water to produce its foliage. I believe it is always there, in the back of everyone's mind, but we refuse to let it surface due to the implications suggesting we've lost control. It is hard to admit there may be nothing we can do about a troubled situation. But it is wisdom to know when things are just out of our hands, and there is nothing further we can do. We are not really losing control of the situation, just merely giving it back to God to regain peace of mind. This is a fine-tuned coping skill. By knowing there is nothing we can do to control the situation, we gain valuable time to heal and begin the process of becoming whole again by finding alternate routes of self preservation. It may not be the easiest road, but sometimes the sheer relief of admitting that "it is out of our hands" can be a welcomed relief. Lift up and let go.................. "Where God closes a door, he will open a window."
Trust the Lord with all your heart,
and
lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and
he will direct your paths.
-Proverbs 3:5-6
Daily Guidance
1. Relinquish and let go of what you can't control today. Work on other avenues in your life that are not beyond your means. Feel the burdens be lifted!
2. Don't be afraid to seek professional advice especially if it pertains to a loved one who may not respond well to your suggestions. Sometimes listening to an individual who has authority and experience in a field, may be able to direct you, making your trek easier.
3. Above all know the difference of WHAT you have CONTROL over and WHAT you don't, and pray for the knowledge to know the difference.
