Monday's Blessing
Isaiah 61:7
“Instead of your shame you shall have a twofold recompense; instead of dishonor and reproach you shall rejoice in their potion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; everlasting joy shall be theirs."

Are you feeling slammed? Things are just not going your way no matter what you do?
Take a good look at the above passage. "Instead of your shame you shall have a two fold recompense." The word recompense means "reward," or "payment for past hurts."
Recompense reminds me of the word compensation. When you think of workman's comp, you think of payments made to a person who has been injured on the job. Likewise, if we get hurt working on God's shift, He takes care us. If someone comes against us, hurts us, rejects us, or wounds us, we need to keep serving God and doing right, and He will make sure we get due compensation in the end.
Realizing that I did not have to collect from people who hurt me was life-changing. Ultimately, there is no way they could compensate me for the pain they caused anyway. They could not give me back what they took from me, but God can always give me more than people take from me. We find another promise of reward in Joel: "And I will restore or replace for you the years that the locust has eaten.... And you shall eat in plenty and be satisfied and praise the name of the Lord, your God, who has dealt wondrously with you. And my people shall never be put to shame" (Joel 2:25-26).
Note the words you shall eat in plenty and be satisfied. This part of the promise is eyeopening. I spent many years discouraged and discontented thinking I was owed some compensation from individuals who hurt me. I thought by addressing the situation and making them realize what happened, that I would feel a bit better. Usually, that person would not see eye to eye anyway. Such a waste of time on my part. Furthermore, no matter what I had, I always wanted more. That is human nature. No matter what I accomplished, there could always be more to do. I never sat and relished what was at my feet. But, now I realize only God can satisfy me.
Whatever you have lost in your life, He will restore. That's a promise. As you trust Him, He will make sure you are paid double for your pain and suffering.
This Week's Meditation:
Teach me to "remember you pay me for my troubles"
Pray:
Help me to meditate each day: "Lord, teach me to pray and not worry. Remind me that you you pay me double for my troubles."
Teach me to be patient and know you will mentor me. Remind me that prayer motivates me.
Meditate on this for several minutes a day. Allow various thoughts to come into your mind. And realize God has you in his arms always.
