1 Peter 5:7
"Casting the whole of your care (all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all) on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully."
"Give it to God," Sister Mary Joseph used to always say at St. Leo's School.
That first grade class was something. For some reason, that year, there was lots of drama to tend with. Being in parochial school you'd think all that God fearing teaching would stick and teach us something. Apparently not for our class.
There were arguments hourly over who was going to be safety for lunch that day. Or, debates on who got to help with the pointer the other day. "When is it my turn?" Johnny would quip.
Being line leader was another privileged. Everyone wanted to direct the line. And everyone was watching what a good job needed to be done. If you didn't meet the cut, they were sure to let you know on the way to church and other activities.
"Sister, let me do it! She's going crooked," Tammy said one day.
"Tammy, we all can't have everything we want at that moment. Give it to God," sister Mary Joseph responded.
I'm sure most of the time it was out of exasperation when those words pierced her lips. But, I can tell you this. It did stick with me my whole life.
Obeying the Scripture is a bit more difficult for some of us than others. Because some of us care about most things and life and want them to go a certain way. I know for myself, my anxiety can easily turn to worry if I'm not careful.
If you are a more emotional person, I'm sure the less emotional people in your life have frustrated you at times. Noting seems to bother them and lots of things bother you. I get it! I have been there and I do know how you feel, but I've also lived long enough to realize that living by feelings is a big mistake. It is true that the best way to live is to learn to cast your cares a let God care for you.
When life sends me lemons - I Give it to God.
This Week's Meditation:
Teach me to Give my worries to You.
Pray:
Help me to realize that my worries shouldn't be my burden
Teach me to realize in a world that is chaotic I need you by my side.
Remind me to pray about this everyday, Lord.
Meditate on this for several minutes a day. Allow various thoughts to come into your mind. And realize God has you in his arms always.
