Colossians 3:17
"And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the
Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. "
I believe if we invest the same amount of time we spend whining into giving thanks we'd be blessed a great deal more. Emotions run deep when situations arise, and we spend day and night fervently praying until a resolution takes place. These days, we can't eat, can't sleep, and can't even attend to our daily tasks due to the stress syndrome. These are the days our hearts are most open for change, begging and pleading for interference from the one we trust - our Lord and Savior.
But do we spend the same amount of time and emotions when something great has happened? If you look at our website, the prayer requests are quite full, yet, the testimonial page in dire need. I know God is working in many great ways in everyone's life, but we fail to take the time to mention these moments of thanks. Lately, I've engaged myself into being full of praise when something wonderful happens. I want to feel GREAT thanks down to my bones, encrusted in my soul, as I speak out joyfully in thanks to our Lord. Recently, I took my third state test and passed with flying colors. What a wonderful feeling and accomplishment I felt in doing so! I spent countless hours studying and praying and reaped my reward. In great thanks I spent my time day and night giving great thanks the following days. I wanted to ensure God knew how fabulous I felt at this moment. What I didn't expect was this feeling of euphoria followed me as long as I was giving thanks.
Colossians says, do everything in God's name and give thanks to him. I am enthralled by this wonderful feeling of gratefulness. It encompasses my body and gives me tingles all over. When I feel grateful, life is a blessing. When life is a blessing, I am overjoyed. I have to admit this feels much better than whining for all the things I need. I walk around with a smile on my face and and feel blessed throughout the day.
Take time to give thanks. Not just a trickle of thanks, but great thanks. Let this feeling penetrate your well-being. Feel its warmth, its refreshing rejuvenation. Give great thanks and blessings will flow making you feel all tingling inside.
Daily Guidance
1. Focus on being thankful the moment you wake up. In fact, if you are a morning mediator, stick it in your prayers that follow. What are you thankful for? What do you take for granted?
2. When good things happen, give thanks. Not just once, but each time you feel that touch of pleasure from a new blessing, give God GREAT thanks.
3. Take this warm feeling of thankfulness with you throughout the day. Stop and feel this emotion. What a beautiful blessing it is! Make a mental note to ensure you feel it more often.
