18:4 Matthew
"Whoever will humble himself therefore and become like this little child is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
Let It Be. A still famous Beatles' song with a powerful message.
I used to be a complicated person. My visions and aspirations often kept me from enjoying the finer points of life. We say we live in a complicated society, but I believe we are the ones that complicate life. Think of it, serving God should not be complicated, and yet it has become very complicated and complex.
Worry, fear, anxiety, jealousy, resentment, and bitterness are all very complicated emotions. Little children have none of these. These are products of our environment and experiences.
Think about the simple, uncomplicated approach a child has to life. Let's take a look at an average day: they are going to enjoy themselves at all costs, they are carefree and without concern, they believe what they are told, it is in their nature to trust.
Remember Christ told John, "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life." All he wants from our lips are the words, "I believe!"
Believing simplifies life. It releases joy and leaves us free to enjoy our lives while God takes care of the circumstances. When God speaks to your heart or through the Bible say, "I believe." If he says you will reap what you sow, forgive your enemies, and love one another; we should just believe. Stop questioning. Just let it be.
If he says pray for our enemies, let us believe it and follow through with general obedience. If he says to call 'things which do not exist as though they did' (Roman 4:17), then just do it. Be his child and act like one.
Even if life gets complicated, we can simplify it by approaching it as a child. Put all your trust in God and be obedient.
This Week's Meditation:
Teach me to "be childlike."
Pray:
Help me to meditate: Help me to believe in you and be trusting like a child.
Teach me to be patient and know you will mentor me.
Remind me that prayer motivates me.
Meditate on this for several minutes a day. Allow various thoughts to come into your mind. And realize God has you in his arms always.
