Psalm 23:1-6
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort
me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my
head with oil; my cup overflows. ... "
Dear Lord,
With these first weeks of spring, Lord, allow a veil to be lifted so that I am in tuned to all that surrounds me. Allow me to drink in the beauty of your creation that blesses me each day. Help me to forget all the pressures I make for myself in life, and instead replace them with your comforting staff. Enable me to do this by prompting me to walk with you each day outdoors.
Get me outdoors more, Lord, whether it be walking, jogging, or biking. Help me to remember my roots are your constant blessings that abound me each day through your creation and not what my internal clock dictates. Aid me in relinquishing the demands I put forth for myself and instead let me fill with your river of calmness sweeping everything that pains me away from my reach.
Heavenly Father, help me reduce the stresses in my live that rob me of my well-being and zap me of my strength. Show me how to connect deeper with you, Lord, by being alone with you outdoors. Let me breathe in your fresh air, filling my body and soul with your intentions for my life. Take away my own misconceptions as I strut these paths each day. Help me to gain wisdom as I take these journeys allowing me to see the foolish ways I waste my own strength. Instead, fill me with your peace and rest so that I may be renewed by your presence and power. Thank you for this peace you promise me. Let me be reminded of it each day!
I can only do this by reconnecting with you, Lord. Being outdoors brings me quiet time and offers this deep reflection by being with you. May I walk with you, Lord, as many days of the week my schedule allows. May I be excited each time knowing I am able to spend some quiet time outdoors with a dear friend.
I know, Lord, walking calms the soul and brings great endorphins to the mind. By doing so, I will be able to open my mind to your next move planned for me.
- The Lord gives people strength; the Lord blesses them with peace.
