James 2:23
"And the scripture was fulfilled that says, 'Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,' and he was called God's friend."
What a great idea today! How about considering to be God's best friend forever? It doesn't take a master plan. If you have faith in God right now, then just like Abraham, you are God's friend already. You probably have never put much merit in it, but it is true.
The Bible says that God is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. That said, you can go to him at any moment in your day and ask for anything. Best of all, he doesn't have other obligations that will take him from you. He is there always, ready to give a hug or walk with you hand in hand as you take a stroll and allow his Spirit to embrace you and guide you. He will never leave you or forsake you. He will listen with patience only a father can bring as you pour your heart out to him. His ears will never grow weary, nor will he make excuses to leave. During these times, we have his utmost, undivided attention.
Remember, never forgot that the Lord is your friend, and just like many of your other friends, you must nurture that relationship. He wants to hear from you. He wants to know what is happening day to day whether it is good or bad. He needs to know when you are sorrowful or angry. He loves to hear when you are full of joy. God is always there ready to share at any hour of the day.
Dear God, I turn to you in prayer and thank you
for always being a true friend.
I can tell you anything and know you alone understand
me so well. I am confident you are with me always and
will never let me down. For this, Jesus, I am truly
grateful. Amen.
