What is getting your inner thermometer boiling?
The temptation to quit is part of being human, but we must resist that temptation and never give up. It is important that we recognize temptation, and we resist the onset of attack. Temptation is one of the realities of the Christian life and a hindrance to success we must work to overcome. Jesus said, "Temptation must come", so be on guard.
There are many types of temptation, we don't always recognize discouragement and thoughts of giving up as being temptation. Some thoughts the enemy may plant in your mid to tempt you to give up might sound like this.
- It's too difficult.
- I am not qualified to do this.
- I am facing too many problems right now.
- I have no help.
- My friends and family think I'm nuts.
- I dont' have the money.
- This is taking too long.
I encourage you to begin to recognize temptations as the works of the enemy. I want you start resisting right now. Think of it as a part of everything you do. Don't consider any temptation as insignificant. Don't let temptation lure you into passivity or wait until you've been so depressed in a hopeless slump for days. Resist temptation immediately! Declare war on ALL forms of temptation. Show the enemy no mercy.
This Week's Meditation:
Teach me to "resist temptation."
Pray:
Help me to meditate each day: "Lord forge this relationship so we are braided together."
Teach me to be patient and know you will mentor me. Remind me that prayer motivates me.
Meditate on this for several minutes a day. Allow various thoughts to come into your mind. And realize God has you in his arms always.
