Colossians 3:15
"And let the peace from Christ rule in your hearts, deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state, to which one body you are called to live. And be thankful and giving praise to God always.”
Got something on the burner that's big?
Is it causing some unsettlement in your bones? Think again.
Colossians 3:15 states to let the peace from Christ rule our hearts. The presence of peace helps us decide and settle with finality all questions that arise in our minds. If you let the Word have its home in your heart and mind, it will give you insight and intelligence and wisdom. You won't have to wonder, "Should I? or shouldn't I? I don't know if this is right. I'm uncertain what to do." If you are a disciple of Christ, He has called you to follow peace. It's that simple.
This is not to be confused with tasks that God sets in front of you. There are times when acting in the faith it becomes trying with all kinds of barriers set in our way. But we know with the power of the Holy Spirit we will be successful. We must push forth and be good disciples.
No, this is more in the terms of what we want out of life not what we necessarily need. These are things that God has not deliberately dropped at our feet. Something that can be as cumbersome as the choice of a new car or pet. We question, we pray, but we do not find peace. So we forge in the darkness with our pitchfork and candle at anything that crosses our path.
We can not find peace concerning our new choice. I have learned from experience to wait if I don't have peace for something. Because if I don't, I could open up a whole new can of worms when I get it.
Following the Lord of peace may mean that you have to make some adjustments in your life. You may not be able to do everything everyone is telling you to do. You may not be able to purchase all the things you want. You may not be able to have something that a friend has. You may have to wait. Waiting is a hard thing to do. But I believe peace is the most important, the most valuable thing we can have. If something we want causes anguish then it is not worth getting it. If you follow peace always, you will end up living holy lives and thoroughly enjoying them.
This Week's Meditation:
Teach me to "always seek peace."
Pray:
Help me to meditate: I need peace more than I need things.
Teach me to not rely on my first thoughts or impressions.
Remind me that I can not do it alone.
Meditate on this for several minutes a day. Allow various thoughts to come into your mind. And realize God has you in his arms always. If your mind is jumbled lately, try Headspace for FREE. It's a great app to find health and happiness.
