Jeremiah 29:11
"I know the plans i have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Do you have a friend or coworker who is always happy? These types seem to wake up full of the spirit ready to disengage it to anyone who comes in contact with them. They are always smiling, always willing to pitch in, and offer you hugs on your down days.
How do they do it? What makes them "tick" differently from the rest of us? Why is it no matter what is happening in their own life, they are always up beat and positive?
At our school there's Anna. Anna comes in every day with a smile on her face. She greets every student she tutors with a huge hug and smile as if it is their first day at her desk. If you're imagining Anna's huge popularity with the kids you're correct. Everyone wants Anna as his/her tutor. That's because when Anna tutors she doesn't let individual nuances get in the way. She sees them as fleeting moments in time and lightly taps the student to remind him that the behavior is not part of this moment's educational goal. Anna may have to do this several times. Each time, she does it with a smile on her face, not allowing the incident to pile up with all the others of the morning.
This becomes the onus of future discussions in the staff lounge later in the day. Fillers of conversation help the complainers of doubt fill the bridges of the unknown. "Well, I'm not sure how she's taking on more than two children." "How can they learn efficiently?" "She just needs to learn to say, No. I can handle the overflow."
Yet, Anna is allowing all her learners to grasp the assignments of the day. How does she do it? Her day is always on fire! She is alive in the Spirit and is constantly sharing it with others. And, when you have that Spirit directing you, you can't go wrong! Anna isn't just showing up for work. She just isn't going through the motions. No, she is passionately fulfilling his destiny.
This is the way your day should be. Don't just go through the motions in life. have some enthusiasm. Choose to be happy, allow the Holy Spirit to set your day on fire! Put a smile on your face, and let the world know you are enjoying the life God has given you!
If you want to see God's favor, do everything with your whole heart. Do it with passion and some fire. Not only will you feel better, but that fire will spread, and soon other people will want what you have. Do you want your life to make an impact? You can change the atmosphere of your home or your entire office with a little bit of enthusiasm.
In the New Testament the apostle Paul encouraged his young coworker Timothy: "Fan the flame. Rekindle the embers. Stir up the gift that is withing you" ( 2 Timothy 1:6). Paul was reminding his understudy to live with enthusiasm. Give it your all. Don't settle for mediocrity. Stir yourself up; rekindle that fire.
The Bible says, "If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land" (Isaiah 1:29). Notice we have to be more than obedient. We must be willing- willing to do the right thing, willing to live with a good attitude and with enthusiasm. You have to be filled with the abundance of joy and happiness. God wants to turn your life around with a strong, healthy lifestyle.
In order to do this you need to raise your level of expectancy. It's our faith, obedience, and will that activates the power of God.
This Week's Meditation:
I will there be light.
Nothing in this life can hide the light I will see.
You stand with me in light, Holy Spirit.
In your light everything looks rosy.
Meditate on this for several minutes a day. Allow various thoughts to come into your mind. And realize God has you in his arms always.
