What are your mornings like? A whirlwind of time spent pressing to ensure you're to work on time? The kids are at school on time?
I am going to add something more. A bit of peace in the morning that is going to make things different for your entire day. Nothing will prepare you to face what you have to do at work today, at home, in a relationship, or in daily life like ensuring you spend some time to commune with God before you busy day begins.
When I first understood that I needed to prepare myself for every day by spending time with God, I didn't know where I was going to fit this in. I was already teetering by minutes to make it to work on time. How was I possibly going to fit another moment in my day in the morning? But, I realized I have such a nicer day if I spend a few minutes with God first.
At the moment, I have Jesus Calling and the Bible near my bed. I always like to work with a spiritual book and the Bible at the same time to offer more insight to my spiritual needs. I don't spend extra money on these books, they are all available at my local library. I take these minutes looking over both and staying quiet for God' personal message.
I know many people feel extremely pressed for time, and the very thought of adding something else to your schedule makes you shudder. All I have to say is, the more you have to do and the busier you are, the more you really need to spend time with God. I do not know how you need to adjust your schedule, but I can tell you adding 5 - 10 more minutes for some short readings and prayer is not going to break the bank. You'll just get off Facebook sooner. I do know that the time with God is like the money you give him. He always gives it back in return.
God is in charge of time: He knows how much time you need to accomplish the things you really need to do, and He can protect and help you manage it, if you will spend time with Him first. Stop trying to fit God into your schedule and make a decision to put Him first, then work the rest of your schedule around Him.
This Week's Meditation:
Teach me to "put God first."
Pray:
Help me to meditate each day: "I know my time with you is important each morning?"
Teach me to be patient and know you will mentor me. Remind me that prayer motivates me.
Meditate on this for several minutes a day. Allow various thoughts to come into your mind. And realize God has you in his arms always.
