2 Corinthians 5:17
"If anyone is in Christ, he is anew creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come."
We put up walls consistently without self awareness. This is what scripture calls a "stronghold". It a terrible thinking pattern that keeps us imprisoned and defeated. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. (2 Corinthians 10:4) That simple Biblical verse reminds us that it is so important to think positive with thoughts of hope, faith, and victory knowing that God has our backs.
I once heard a wonderful inspirational story. Donna was a woman who got pregnant at 16 and dropped out of high school. She was forced on public assistance and barely surviving surround by poverty, defeat, and despair. Donna had hope though. She said, "I refuse to hand this lifestyle down to my children. I'm going to make a difference someway. I'm going to be the person God wants me to be." She started to dream realizing that God will fulfill those wishes. She took on a "can-do" mentality despite what friends and family's opinions supplied.
She took a job at a school cafeteria collecting meal tickets. She made minimum wage. Donna knew this wasn't the end of her career. She went back to school and received her GED. Then she attended night classes while she worked during the day. She graduated with honors. Donna wasn't done yet. She went back to school and got her master's degree.
Today Donna is not on welfare any longer. In fact, she is the principal in that same school district where she once collected meal tickets. She did her part, and God did His.
Sometimes we get dragged down by negative words in our lives. Maybe some of the so-called experts have told you that you're never going to be successful; you just don't have what it takes, or you've waited too long. Reject those lies whenever you hear them. After all, God has your back, who dares to question Him? Break through these limitations and let your mind dwell on fresh, positive attitudes of faith.
Feel confident when you break down those walls. God has prepared a place of great abundance for you. A place of freedom for everyone he loves. Don't let oppressors beat you down - mistreat you - abuse you - use you - or take advantage of you. God will say, "You have stayed long enough at this mountain." (Deuteronomy 1:6) I believe that means he is letting us know that we've been wallowing in this place for too long. Its time to move on, to let go of past hurts, pains, or failures. It's time to increase, promote, and find favor in tomorrow.
