Monday's Blessing
Revelation 3:20
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the
door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me."
Adapting the art of willingness is definitely an uneasy skill to master. After all, the will is the central most controlling figure of our minds and character. It is this will that often leads us into trouble as we are laxed on conditioning it to aid our plights correctly. But, it is this same will that allows our mental faculty to be infused with the divine will of God. If we open our will to God's direction, then God promises to guide our needs and aid us in helping his own.
The sad part is that our "willingness", the force that drives our character, can often be dismantled when we try to offer opinions to others. We can be stubborn to offer our advice for fear of causing turmoil or upsetting that family member or friend. Yet, this is the divine reason God put us together to help bear each other's burdens. It is easier to stand complacent, a figure in the shadows, rather than offer our pearls of wisdom. Or, at times, we get on that roller coaster ride, offering our thoughts only to get squashed when we begin to open our mouths. When is the right time to offer our willingness? The Bible verse states, if we infuse this willingness into God's hands he will ignite the perfect time and place for our words to be exposed.
When you are willing to give up your will to God, God will ensure you use it appropriately. His guidance will help you elevate your feelings to his divine nature and open love, peace, and hope. As this nature unfolds, you will become willing to do more than pray. You will become willing to stand up for those things that are in your best interest and the interests of others. No more will you feel tread upon, or confused where to offer your advice.
But here is the beauty of it. You don't have to steer this workshop yourself! All you have to do is take that need, or a need of a loved one, sit down and give your complete thoughts to God. Don't try to figure this one out! Just sit quietly and pray. God will do all the directing that needs to be done. He will fill your mind with answers and open up the perfect opportunity to unfold it. So relax! Stop steering, take that wonderful gift of your will and give it to God. Let him decide where and when that outcome will be.
Daily Guidance
1. Take a moment right now and look at an issue that is affecting your will. Sit quietly and ask God for guidance so that your will is put to good use. Wait, that is the most important component. Wait until you feel God's guidance.
2. Pray often this week to unite your will with the will of God's. When these two wills are united, peace will bestow you. God will direct you, and your deeds will be appropriate.
3. Use your will to offer help to those in need. Remember, we are one body, who depend on each other. God planned it this way! Sometimes, the one you least expect to help is the one who is most thankful.
