John 1:1
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
This verse is the opening line of the apostle John. Twice in the Bible, the words "in the beginning appear". They are the first words in Genesis and the last words of the book of John. It is important to note that these words "in the beginning" solidifies that our understanding and purpose rests on one book, the Bible.
John was a dear friend to Jesus. John walked with him throughout his ministry and was blessed by seeing many of Jesus' miracles throughout his journey. He was with Jesus at the end of his book on the island of Patmos. It was here, he wrote the book of Revelation from visions of the Apocalypse.
John's book comes full circle in telling the story of Jesus. He was there when he began his ministry. He calls Jesus "the Word". And begins his story with "in the beginning" which translates to a new beginning for us all through the birth of Christ. It is in these words we can read his loving depiction of his trusted friend. A friend who was called upon to change the world and give renewed hope.
This significance of the language John chose in calling Jesus "the word" makes it known that Jesus is divine. These words tell everyone that Jesus is the source, meaning, and purpose of life.
If you haven't picked up your Bible yet, why not start with the book of John? Here you'll gain meaning and purpose in your own life. These words will point you to Jesus and will give you what you seek. I can't stress the importance of reading THE WORD. It is through the Bible God speaks directly to you.

Thank you for Jesus and the
book of John that helps us understand.
Thank you for all you do for me.
