1 Corinthians 9:22
“To the weak I have become weak that I might win the weak and overscrupulous. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some some."

Our individual needs differ greatly.
We are all different, and we each have different needs. I urge you to go the extra mile and out what people need instead of giving them what you think they need.
I like to give gifts to show my appreciation and love. I once had a co-worker who do not seem to appreciate these small tokens I'd offer. This weighed on me because it seemed she was ungrateful. But, when I got to know her better, she told me that the most important thing to her was hearing the words of appreciation not the materialistic concept behind it.
I thought by giving these gifts that it showed my appreciation. It seemed easier than wearing my heart on my sleeve. I often show my appreciation for someone's hard work by giving gifts. But this person needed to hear those words concerning how much I appreciate her.
Through gift-giving, I was trying to really show her love, but sadly she did not feel love. Because I enjoy receiving and giving gifts I assumed she felt this way. I think this happens more often than we realize because we assume people think as we do. That's because we don't take the time to get to know that individual to see what their needs really are. We just give them what we think they need because it saves time, and it is easier for us.
We can't expect everyone to like what we like. We need to take the time to get to know people and their needs. We expect everyone to think as we do, and we end up pressuring them to be something they don't know how to be. God graciously places many different types of people in our lives because we need them all. Each of us has a gift that we can learn to use for the benefit of others around us. Appreciate people for who they are, and help them to become all they can be.
This Week's Meditation:
Teach me to "Understand different needs."
Pray:
Help me to meditate each day: "Lord, bless me with the knowledge in understanding others."
Teach me to be patient and know you will mentor me. Remind me that prayer motivates me.
Meditate on this for several minutes a day. Allow various thoughts to come into your mind. And realize God has you in his arms always.
