Proverbs 22:17-19
"Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, and apply your mind to my knowledge: for it will be pleasant if you keep them within you, that they may be ready on your lips. So that your trust may be in the Lord."
Your mind is similar to a computer. Many fail to consider the fact that what we program into our computer will dictate how well it will function. Think about it! You never complain about your computer giving you wrong information. You don't get disgusted that it flashes sites before your eyes without any prompting. Then it goes to say we have the most powerful computers in the world. If you program it with the wrong software or information, it will not be able to function as the manufacturer intended.
Knowing that, we also realize there is now a myriad of computer viruses lurking in cyberspace, waiting for an opportunity to destroy your hard drive and the information stored in it. These type of viruses get into the computer and make it perform sluggishly. Before you know it, it begins to malfunction. Often through emails, you may share that same virus with a friend or family member. This exacerbates the problem infecting others.
In the same mode we allow negative thoughts and words to enter our minds. These subtly change our own operating systems which corrupts our personal information so that we can't retrieve the important documents any longer. But in actuality we were programmed by God. This was done before we were every formed. He programmed us to live abundant lives, to be happy, healthy, and whole. But when we let viruses into your software it is no longer in line with God's plan. We begin to make serious mistakes and wrong choices. We take on low self-esteem, worry, fear, feeling inadequate, and insecure.
When you notice these things happening you must wipe out your hard drive! You have to change your way of thinking. You must get back to God's owner's manual through his word. The Bible says, "I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses, positive and negative; therefore; God says choose life." (Deuteronomy 30:19) What you have to realize is this choice is not a once-and-for-all; it's done. We must constantly choose to dwell on the positive, choose to think on the good. The negative is always going to be around us. We have to choose to dwell on what's right, rather than on what's wrong. Choose to focus on what you have, not on what you don't have. Choose constantly the right thoughts. This is not easy!!!!
The most important thing to realize is God is ALWAYS with us. Yes, not just the fantastic times nor the terrible moments, he is there always guiding us in the right direction.
This Week's Meditation:
God goes with me wherever I go.
Meditate on this for several minutes today. Allow your thoughts to come whenever. With each thought say the mediation. Every morning before you get out of bed, spend a few minutes this week with the meditation again.
