Are you experiencing pangs of guilt?
Strong feelings and emotions cause us to spiral out of control. The truth is we dont' have to make decisions based on our feelings! We have a free will, and we can choose to believe God's Word more than we believe how we feel at the time. When you begin to live by the Word of God and what you know through Him, instead of how you feel, your feelings will eventually change and line up with the Word.
Satan uses guilt to steal years of worry from you. It is often false guilt because much of the time we have nothing to be guilty for. I repent, ask God to forgive me, and yet I would still live my life feeling guilty. I carried the burden of guilt with me throughout the day. At times I would feel very spiritual because I would try to rectify my behavior into a better human being through guilt. But God didn't want me to feel bad about my behavior.
Mornings often encompassed three things, my problems, my mistakes, and my gratitude. I was on to something with the gratitude, but God didn't need to hear my mistakes and problems. He already knew. The Bible says ask and receive that your joy may be full. I was asking for forgiveness and help, but never took the time to receive. I'd like to encourage you from now on when you ask God to forgive your sins for anything you've done wrong, take a moment and say, "I receive your forgiveness right now." Don't just ask, ask and receive; so that you can take the next step and be filled with joy.
One morning many years prior, God hugged my heart. Everything that was wrong that day was made right. I've never looked back and remind myself daily, he's got it all under control.
Do you spend more time with your sins that you do with God? Do you spend more time thinking about what you've done wrong than about what He's done right? Remember, where sine does abound grade and forgiveness and mercy does much more abound.
This Week's Meditation:
Teach me to "I am forgiven immediately."
Pray:
Help me to meditate each day: "Lord, teach me to pray and not worry. Remind me that you forgive me always."
Teach me to be patient and know you will mentor me. Remind me that prayer motivates me.
Meditate on this for several minutes a day. Allow various thoughts to come into your mind. And realize God has you in his arms always.
